Wynwood - Miami, FL | 2025.
José Gregorio couldn't stay still.
For years, I've seen him walking, like many of us, crossing invisible borders.
He's in a small holy card in a wallet. In a murmured prayer at an airport. In the gaze of someone who misses home but believes.
For me, this is the seventh José Gregorio. Not the one in hospitals or on altars, but the one who migrated with his people. The one who travels in the memory of those who leave. The one who doesn't need a temple because he has become a presence.
I wanted to paint him with his impeccable hat, his briefcase full of miracles, and his white suit stamped with world seals.
This mural is part of my series A Wandering Saint, which connects with my project Timeless Influencers, where I wonder what great figures from the past would be like today if they lived among us.
What if José Gregorio had social media, an HD camera, millions of followers?
Maybe he wouldn't post...
But he would still click on faith from the invisible realm.
This mural is not a devotional image. It's a conversation.
A way of saying that what we believe travels with us.
That symbols don't die, they transform.
And that there are figures who, even if they don't speak, continue to tell us everything.
